On August 2 Newport VFW Post 406 once again demonstrated its commitment veterans by supporting a dinner for the Gold Star Sailing camp children at US Coast Guard Base Castle Hill. Local veterans Norm Bailey and our own Post 406 member Sharon McGinnis led this effort to host the camp in Newport. Post 406 remains unwavering in our mission to advocate on behalf of America’s veterans, ensuring those willing to put it all on the line for our nation return home to a grateful one, ready to deliver on the promises made in exchange for their many sacrifices.

Gold Star Sailing (GSS) is a 501-C-3 non-profit, volunteer-based organization dedicated to providing unique opportunities and adventures to the surviving children of fallen military service members in order to instill self-confidence, build character, teach teamwork, develop leadership, and promote healing in a positive environment of hope, adventure and friendship.
