The following officers are duly elected members of Post 406:
Commander: Anselm T.W. Richards, served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and is retired from the U.S. Army Reserves, 84th Training Command. . Anselm resides in Newport with his wife and children.
Senior Vice Commander: Capt. Mark Turner, (Ret.) U.S. Navy served in Maritime Patrol Aviation for 30 years. Deployed many times in support of national taskings. Leadership positions included Commanding Officer of VP-45 and Wing Commander CPRW-11. Mark resides in Newport with his wife Coleen.
Junior Vice Commander: Sharon McGinnis, U.S. Army. Sharon is a former U. S. Army Officer stationed at Fort Hood and Fort Bragg with an overseas tour in Bosnia to support Operation Joint Guard. She is currently Vice President of Client Services for a Health Information Technology Company in Boston. Sharon is responsible for United States based customers providing customized education and collaboration to improve hospital quality and patient outcomes. She previously held hospital leadership roles at Duke University Health System and Atrium Health. Sharon holds a BSN in Nursing from Lewis University and an MHA from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. She is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt. She is a community volunteer for Newport VFW Post 406, Gold Star Sailing, Habitat for Humanity and an active member of Newport Yacht Club. She has made her home in Rhode Island and is a proud Mom to her son Ian.
Quartermaster: William Farrell, retired from the U.S. Army as a Senior Military Police Officer with over 26 years of active and reserve service. After Bill left teaching, he worked for Navy and Air Force and is an Air Force Retired Civilian. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Bill has been a life member of the VFW since he returned home in 1972. Bill lives in Newport with his wife and two cats.
