VFW Post 406 teamed up with the Newport Elks Lodge 104 as the lead organizations for the Newport Gulls Veterans night at Cardines Field. The pre-game ceremony started with an on-field parade of Elks and VFW Post 406 members, who provided the Honor Guard with the American Flag carried by Murray Norcross. The first pitch was thrown out by our own COL Larry Brown. Elk Chris Stevenson beautifully sang the National Anthem. The program was coordinated by Elk Veterans Committee head Walt Wildemann. Elks and Post 406 members provided the gate attendants and sold tickets for the 50/50 raffle, proceeds which are donated to local Veterans causes.

VFW Post 406 will support the Gulls once again on Wednesday July 16 for Military Appreciation Night. Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will go to Gold Star Sailing, a charity that Post 406 regularly supports.
