Capt. Mark Turner, (Ret.) U.S. Navy was elected as the State Commander of the Rhode Island Veterans of Foreign Wars for the 2024-2025 calendar year as part of the 2024 State VFW convention proceedings.

This is Mark’s third consecutive year serving in a state leadership role. He previously served as the State Junior Vice Commander (2022-2023), and the State Senior Vice Commander (2023-2024).
Mark has supported Veterans and Military members in Rhode Island since 2011, when he first attended the U.S. Naval War College, then became the Director of the Naval Staff College. He has since retired fro Active Duty, and continues to work as a staff member within the Naval War College. He and wife Coleen reside in Newport.
