On Friday, July 31st, VFW Post 406 and Coast Guard Station Castle Hill had the honor to provide a closing dinner for campers that participated in the 2026 Newport Gold Star Sailing Camp. These teenagers spent all week together in Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay building friendships and learning how to sail.
Following the completion of their day’s activities, approximately 28 campers plus leaders arrived at Coast Guard Station Castle Hill for dinner with active-duty Coast Guard members and VFW Post 406 members. Tours of the station house, vessels and Castle Hill lighthouse were provided to all following dinner. The evening was highlighted by a Coast Guard helicopter landing at Station Castle Hill to the excitement of all.
