Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, coordinated wreath-laying ceremonies take place at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 3,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. This effort is managed by Wreaths Across America, a non-profit organization that you can read about here.

Locally, Island Cemetery in Newport has been selected as a location where wreaths will be laid this year. The cemetery is the final resting place for hundreds of Veterans spanning all wars, including the Revolution, that our country has fought in.

VFW Post 406 members will gather together to support this effort, and invites all members of the public to join us as well. We ask that Post members that are attending sign up below, and members of the general public to sign up at https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/

We will all meet at the main office of the Island Cemetery, 30 Warner Street for 1145 AM on Saturday December 17th. A brief ceremony will take place at 1200, and then we will spread throughout the cemetery to place wreaths on graves.
