On Saturday, November 5th, members of VFW Post 406 and friends will gather to help memorialize those Veterans that are deceased and buried in selected cemeteries within Newport.

Every year in advance of Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day, we visit the graves of previous generations of Veterans and recognize their service by placing a small American flag near their gravestone. Some of them became well-known and famous in their lifetimes, while others led simpler, quieter lives – but all served with honor and dignity, and we remember their service.

We will meet at 0700 in Braman Cemetery, (East side of Farewell Avenue, Newport, RI) and place flags in this cemetery, the adjacent North Burial Ground, and then the nearby Friends Burial Ground and St. Mary’s Cemetery.

This event is rain or shine. Veterans, active military, the public and their families are welcome to attend.

If you are able to help with this event please complete the form below. A member of our post that is organizing the effort will reach out to you for further coordination.
